Packager Position

Roles + Responsibilities

The primary role of the packager is to prepare sold products so that they can be shipped.  The packager should also quickly inspect items as they are packaged to ensure there are no obvious flaws, and that the proper item has been made/pulled from stock for that particular order.  The packager must have a full knowledge of the shipping program on the computer (we provide training), and be able to weigh and print off shipping labels.  The packager must also inspect and measure custom items such as drapery, roman blinds and pillows to verify that they have been made to order specifications.  A summary of the packagers duties is as follows:

  • Quickly inspect quality, quantity and identity of products and verify that the items are indeed correct for the order about to be packaged.

  • Neatly and quickly package items in plastic bags, sleeves and boxes using a tape gun.

  • Weigh and measure packaged items and enter this information into the shipping software program on a computer.

  • Print and correctly fasten shipping labels onto the packaged orders.

  • Organize and prepare packaged and labelled parcels for pickup, interact with pickup workers and provide shipment paperwork.

  • Receive inventory shipments at the loading dock - open loading dock doors for delivery drivers.

  • Reconcile pillow and curtain hardware deliveries with the itemized invoice to insure that the proper items on the invoice have indeed been received.

  • Organize and order packaging materials from our supplier.

  • Available for 40 hours a week, no part time position available for this role.

  • Previous packaging experience a bonus but not mandatory
